Business Challenge

  • Build a platform that customers and makers can use to evaluate the Environmental Sensor capabilities using Intel Edison Board and integrate the
    same within Intel’s UPM Software platform (a library, including high-level APIs to connect sensors and actuators in IoT solutions)
  • Enable end application developer with an easy to use interface for reading data from the sensor through USB and BLE

VOLANSYS Contribution

  • Understanding UPM & MRAA standards, guidelines, and libraries for USB/UART communication
  • Understanding TinyB library and its APIs for the Intel Edison board used for the project
  • Perform feasibility of sniffing advertisement packets using TinyB library and validating that BLE sensor data is made available in the application layer
  • Designed & developed USB type sensor library
    • Over USB to UART
    • Over BLE
  • Developed C++ application on top of both UPM library to read and display (on terminal) the data obtained from sensor, configure advertisement setting and LED setting
  • Developed Functional Validation Suite of both interfaces and delivered test automation to reduce time with increasing changes
