Santa Clara, CA
VOLANSYS Technologies, with a strong reputation for its innovative approach in the emerging space of IoT solutions and applications, participated in Electronica, Germany 2016. This event, one of the largest trade fairs in the industry dealing with electronics and showcasing the latest technologies related to the electronics from the top most companies was held from 8th to 11th Nov 2016. VOLANSYS was present at NXP’s booth in Hall A6-107.
Mr. Dhaval Parikh, Director of Engineering, represented VOLANSYS at Electronica Germany 2016. “The NXP Modular IoT Gateway and Modular Edge Node Platform gives a jump start to any organization that plans to bring gateway and industry specific end node products to market. These market ready OEM application development solutions help in drastically reducing time to market for a new product launch in the home or large-scale industrial automation. This design is going to be a breakthrough IoT platform enabler supporting a large number of connected application possibilities for multiple IoT industries. Modular Design, mikroBUS compatibility, and non-powered commissioning are a few of the unique features found in these designs.” says Mr. Parikh.
“VOLANSYS played an amazing role in developing the NXP Thread and ZigBee Large Node Network showcase for Electronica 2016,” says Bill Krakar, Software and Systems Product Manager for Internet of Things (IoT) solutions at NXP Semiconductor. “Controlling 64 IoT end devices with voice via Amazon Alexa, using arm motions via the Kinetis® based Hexiwear device, and using a traditional smartphone app offered a glimpse of what’s possible for futuristic control of commercial connected smart applications. Both reference designs were created for OEM development teams to drive rapid development and prototyping of smart connected applications for large node network commercial and industrial installations such as smart lighting, buildings, meters, smart cities, oil and gas fields, and agriculture.” For more details, visit nxp.com/modulargateway.
About the NXP Modular IoT Gateway and Edge Platform
The NXP Modular IoT Gateway uses the NXP i.MX6UL ARM® Cortex® A-7 based processor with support for ZigBee and Thread. Additional connectivity support is planned for Q12017 leveraging the mikroBUS compatible connector modular hardware design to easily adopt future radio modules. This multi-radio connectivity capability enables a flexible connectivity mechanism driving a plethora of use cases across various segments of IoT. Standard IoT application layer protocols such as MQTT and CoAP for northbound communication are also supported. NFC capabilities allow for quick and easy commissioning of end devices while also providing advanced hardware-enabled security.
With the increase in demand for IoT in various industries, our reference design provides flexibility in customizing gateways based on industry requirements to build M2M solutions. These reference designs are a tremendous time to market enabler for various IoT industries such as smart health, smart appliances, smart lighting, smart manufacturing, smart connected vehicles, smart energy and more.
